Heritage Gardens & Daily Duck Feeding

A summer ritual loved by guests and wildlife alike

Ever wondered what those lush gardens are as you cross the river bridge into Margaret River, the ones spilling over the fence on the left just before town?

That’s Adamsons Riverside. Our front gardens are part of the property’s living history: a leafy pocket where wildlife drifts in from the adjacent river forest and summer afternoons slow to a gentler pace.

Every day at 4:00 PM, guests are invited to join our long-running duck-feeding tradition, one we’ve proudly maintained for more than a decade. You’ll often meet Pacific Black Ducks, Wood Ducks, and the occasional Bronzewing Pigeon wandering among the roses and hydrangeas.

We care deeply for our feathered visitors, which is why we use only proper duck feed, never bread, keeping them healthy while guests enjoy a uniquely Margaret River ritual beneath the trees.

Explore & Ride, Bike Hire & Café Next Door

Pedal the river trails, then refuel under the trees

Just a short stroll toward the river from Adamsons, you’ll find The Hairy Marron, Margaret River’s much-loved bike hire, repair workshop and forest-edge café.

Choose from mountain bikes, family cruisers or e-bikes, grab local trail advice, then enjoy coffee and cake on the deck overlooking leafy paths.

It’s the perfect starting point for exploring the river foreshore and Karri forest trails, right between Adamsons and the water.

Step Back in Time, The Old Settlement

Pioneer history just moments from the riverbank

A little further along the riverbank is The Old Settlement Museum, a heritage village run by the Margaret River & Districts Historical Society.

Wander through restored group settlement buildings, a blacksmith’s shop, the Bramley schoolhouse, old dairy sheds and vintage farm machinery, a fascinating snapshot of early life in the region.

It’s an easy add-on to a day of river walks, bike rides and garden wandering, all just steps from Adamsons.
